The Gran Canaria bathroom problem, and how we fix it
Most bathrooms we are called to share the same island symptoms: chalky limescale on taps and screens from the hard water, black mould creeping along the grout because the old extractor never cleared the humidity, dated 1980s tiles, and a bulky corner bath eating a room nobody has space for.
We fix the causes, not the surface. Every renovation includes full tanking of the shower floor and walls so water can never track behind the tiles, a correctly sized extractor to control condensation, and zone-rated electrics (IP44/IP65) for lighting, the mirror and a heated towel rail.
Then come the finishes: a flush walk-in shower, wall-hung sanitaryware that leaves the floor clear, large-format tiles or seamless microcement, and quality taps that resist limescale. The result is a bathroom that stays clean, dry and modern for years, not one that looks tired again after two winters.
Managing your bathroom renovation from the UK
A bathroom is the easiest room to renovate remotely, and many of our British and Irish clients never see the site during the works.
You send photos and measurements to start, we confirm a binding fixed price after a video survey, and you choose tiles, the screen, taps and sanitaryware over WhatsApp video, with samples couriered to you within a few working days. We collect keys from a neighbour, agent or administrador and notify the comunidad in Spanish.
During the two to three weeks on site your project manager sends weekly photos in English and flags any decisions early, so nothing stalls. At the end you get a video handover and a watertightness test. When you next fly out, the bathroom is finished, tested and ready to use.
Bathroom costs: Gran Canaria vs the UK
A full bathroom renovation in the UK commonly costs £12,000–25,000 once labour, tiling and fittings are added. On Gran Canaria a complete bathroom renovation is €1,800–3,800, with a bespoke premium bathroom starting from €8,000.
The saving comes from labour costs, not from cutting corners: we tank properly, install zone-rated electrics and specify recognised brands such as Roca, Grohe, Hansgrohe and Ideal Standard. Many owners use the difference to add underfloor heating, a backlit mirror or a bigger walk-in shower.

Yes, this is one of our most popular jobs, from €1,500. We remove the tub, re-tank the floor and walls, fit a flush low-profile tray and a made-to-measure screen, and re-route the plumbing and drainage as needed, usually within a few days.
