Diagnosing the damp before we fix it
The reason so many damp repairs fail is that someone treated the symptom, a stain, a bubble in the paint, without identifying the cause. We always diagnose first, free of charge. There are three culprits and each needs a different fix. Filtration is water getting in through a terrace, roof or crack, and it is solved by tanking and correcting the falls and drainage. Rising (capillary) damp climbs from the ground into walls and needs a chemical damp-proof course and breathable re-plastering. Condensation is generated indoors by poor ventilation and is solved with extraction and, sometimes, insulation. Much of the island's 1965-1985 housing was built with no damp-proofing at all, so more than one mechanism can be at play. By pinning down exactly what is happening before quoting, we can specify a system that actually holds, back it with a written watertightness guarantee and prove it with a water test.

A leak in a Gran Canaria property is stressful when you live in the UK, Ireland or Germany, especially if a downstairs neighbour is reporting water. We handle it end to end without you flying over. Terrace and roof waterproofing starts from around €35/m², and treatment of rising (capillary) damp from about €90 per linear metre. Liquid-membrane or bituminous systems are priced by the system chosen, and the filtration diagnosis is free. After the diagnosis we provide a binding, itemised quote, excluding IGIC.
