PVC or aluminium in a salt-air climate
The single biggest question we get is PVC versus aluminium, and on Gran Canaria the answer leans towards thermally broken aluminium.
uPVC insulates marginally better on paper, but the island's relentless UV is hard on it: budget frames can yellow, soften and warp within a few years, especially on sun-facing and coastal elevations. Thermally broken aluminium is UV-stable, dimensionally stable and pairs with corrosion-resistant hardware that stands up to salt air, while its slim profiles let in more light.
Whichever we specify, the glass matters just as much: low-emissivity units cut solar heat gain and reduce AC use, and laminated safety glass adds security. We assess each opening by orientation, some elevations take far more sun and salt than others, and recommend the profile, glass and hardware combination that will still look and work well after a decade in this environment, not just on installation day.

For the Gran Canaria coast we generally recommend thermally broken aluminium. PVC insulates slightly more, but under the island's intense UV cheaper uPVC can yellow and warp within a few years. UV-stable aluminium with a thermal break and corrosion-resistant hardware holds up better to sun and salt while still insulating well.
Because everything is made to measure, allow roughly 3–5 weeks from approved order to installation, depending on the profile, glass and volume. We confirm the exact date in the quote and installation itself is usually completed in a day or two per property.
