Retrofit works, external insulation, aerothermal systems and new windows, are expensive to install in the UK, where labour and access costs are high. On Gran Canaria the same measures cost considerably less: SATE from €65/m², aluminium windows from €650 per unit, aerothermal from €8,000.
That lower installed cost, combined with generous grant support and a climate where insulation pays back through cooling savings rather than heating, makes a retrofit here unusually attractive. Many owners bundle it into a wider renovation so the scaffolding and disruption are shared.

SATE external wall insulation starts from around €65/m², an aerothermal system with underfloor heating from €8,000, thermally broken aluminium windows from €650 per unit, and an energy certificate from €120. Grant management is included. Quotes are binding, itemised and exclude IGIC.
Well-applied external insulation and efficient glazing can cut cooling (air-conditioning) costs by roughly 30–50%, depending on the property's orientation, current state and how it is used. We model the expected saving during the diagnosis so you can weigh it against the investment.
For the Gran Canaria climate we recommend thermally broken aluminium rather than uPVC. Under the island's intense UV, uPVC frames yellow and can warp within a few years, whereas UV-stable aluminium with a thermal break resists the sun and salt air while still insulating well.
External wall insulation on a typical home usually takes 2–4 weeks depending on the façade area, access and scaffolding, and it is carried out from outside, so you can normally keep using the property while we work.
Canary Islands regional subsidies and European Next Generation funds may cover insulation, aerothermal systems and envelope improvements. We explain the current programmes, check eligibility and manage the application and the before-and-after certificates.
