Choosing flooring for the island climate
Not every floor that works in a UK home suits Gran Canaria, and matching the material to both the climate and the room is where a good result starts.
Porcelain and stoneware are the island workhorses: they stay cool underfoot in the heat, shrug off intense UV and resist the marking that hard water leaves on softer surfaces, all with minimal maintenance. In wet rooms like bathrooms and kitchens, SPC vinyl handles water without swelling. Bedrooms can take engineered wood for warmth and comfort, while microcement gives a seamless, contemporary look across living areas and even showers.
Whatever the finish, the substrate decides how long it lasts. We prepare and level the base properly, use the right adhesives (Mapei, Weber) and seal the joints, because a beautiful tile laid on a poor, uneven base will lift, crack or lip within a season. Getting both the material and the preparation right is what delivers a flat, durable, low-maintenance floor.
Refitting floors while you're abroad
Re-flooring is one of the tidiest jobs to run remotely, and often the quickest way to refresh a holiday apartment between tenants.
We survey the substrate and levels by video or from your photos, issue a binding fixed price, and let you choose the material, format and colour over WhatsApp video, with physical samples couriered so you can judge them in your own light. Keys come from a neighbour, agent or administrador.
Where we can lay over the existing floor, the work is faster and cleaner, ideal when you cannot supervise. Your project manager reports in English with photos, and we finish with joint sealing and a clean handover. Many overseas owners have a whole apartment re-floored between visits, arriving to a bright, modern, ready-to-let interior without lifting a finger.

On Gran Canaria laid porcelain starts from €35/m², SPC vinyl and engineered wood from €30/m², and seamless microcement from €70/m². You are getting proper substrate preparation and recognised adhesives, not a cut-price job, for a materially lower figure.
That lets many owners upgrade a tier, choosing large-format porcelain or microcement over a basic laminate. Prices shown exclude IGIC (general 7%, with a reduced 0% or 3% possible on qualifying primary-residence works), which we itemise separately so any comparison with a home-country quote stays honest.
