Take the most common size in a southern apartment - a 3-4 m2 bathroom - with a complete renovation: strip out the old suite, run new plumbing and waste pipes, tank and tile, fit a flush non-slip shower tray, a made-to-measure screen and wall-hung sanitaryware, with zoned IP44/IP65 lighting and a new extractor. That job lands in the lower half of the EUR 4,000-8,000 range. Specify continuous microcement, a bespoke vanity, a backlit mirror and premium brassware in the same footprint and you move to the top of the range.

Materials chosen for the island climate
Water in Gran Canaria is very hard and leaves limescale on taps, screens and sanitaryware, and poor ventilation encourages mould in the grout lines. We therefore specify surfaces and brassware that shrug off limescale and are easy to clean, wall-hung sanitaryware that leaves the floor clear, and an extractor sized to the room. In the electrics we respect the bathroom protection zones with IP44/IP65 fittings according to the distance from water. None of this shows in a photo, but it is the difference between a bathroom that still looks sharp after ten years and one that ages in three.
