A kitchen renovation in Gran Canaria usually costs between about EUR 5,000 and EUR 12,000 (excluding IGIC), depending on size, cabinetry and appliances. A small 6-8 m2 kitchen with standard finishes starts at the lower end (EUR 5,000-8,500); a standard 10-12 m2 kitchen runs EUR 7,000-12,000, and large or high-end kitchens start from EUR 12,000 (up to around EUR 18,000-20,000). Per square metre this usually falls between EUR 700 and EUR 1,200/m2, reaching EUR 1,500/m2 for premium finishes. These are approximate guide figures, excluding IGIC.
What affects the price
- Size and layout: moving the sink, gas or drains increases the cost.
- Cabinetry: custom units and fronts drive a large part of the budget.
- Worktop and appliances: the worktop material and appliance range make the price vary widely.
- Plumbing and electrics: renewing them fully is strongly recommended in older kitchens.

IGIC on the renovation
In the Canary Islands there is no VAT but IGIC: the general rate is 7%, but renovation of a primary residence may qualify for a reduced 0% or 3% rate if the requirements are met.
